Emporia State University is kicking off its 150th anniversary with a gala celebration.

The school says the Feb. 15 event in Webb Hall on the second floor of the Memorial Union will showcase student talent and look to the future of the institution.

Amid food and drinks, attendees will be treated to music, theater, debate and visual arts. The ESU Foundation also plans to make an announcement that school officials are describing as "major."

The emcee for the black-tie-optional celebration is Mike Kennedy of Q104 Country in Kansas City.

Tickets for the event cost $75. Proceeds will fund scholarships.
