An Emporia man is dead after a head-on collision with an agricultural sprayer.
Lyon County Sheriff's investigators said James Hoffman, 82, was driving a van southbound on the Road J Cottonwood River bridge. A Burlington man was traveling northbound in a sprayer around noon Tuesday. Hoffman was driving in the northbound lane, moved over to the southbound lane after realizing he was in the wrong lane, and then drifted back into the northbound lane, colliding with the sprayer's left front axle.
Hoffman died from his injuries. The driver of the sprayer wasn't hurt.
