WICHITA, Kan. -- Friday morning, shattered glass is littered across an apartment complex at 3800 West 13th Street. Police say eight cars were broken into overnight.

"This isn't the first time we've had a break-in," said apartment resident Ron Cannon. "But definitely one of this magnitude, I guess you could say."

Police were able to catch the suspect after an alert resident saw a man jumping a fence. Police tracked the man to a nearby apartment and recovered several stolen items inside. The 20-year-old has been arrested on theft and burglary charges. The stolen items were recovered and are being returned.

"There was everything from my iPod to part of a baby car seat to a backpack to just cables and wires," said apartment resident and KAKE producer Melisha Regier. "It was just like they didn't have a certain thing they were going for, they were just grabbing whatever they could."

While victims do find a bit of relief in getting their items back, they still have a lot of cleaning up to do today.

"Now we have the expense of having to fix the window, and she's going to have to take my car to work, and it's just very frustrating," Cannon said.
