A southeast Wichita home was heavily damaged by fire early Sunday morning.
Wichita and Sedgwick County fire crews were called just after 5 a.m. to the 12800 block of East Bellechase Court. Upon arrival, flames and heavy smoke were seen emanating from the home.
Chief Ron Blackwell said there was a report that a man and his daughter were trapped inside, but no one was found by the search and rescue team. Law enforcement is attempting to locate them.
"We were told that there were two autos at the house; one of the two is missing. That information has been shared with police," Blackwell said.
The fire, which caused significant damage to the home, was quickly brought under control. The cause is under investigation, and a damage estimate has yet to be determined.
