Emergency crews in Sedgwick County say the winter weather isn't causing too many problems yet. There have been no major accidents and only one injury accident so far this afternoon.

The moisture on the roads keeping drivers alert and cautious. Though most Wichita-area drivers haven't had a lot of practice driving in winter conditions this year, emergency responders say most are erring on the side of caution.

Sedgwick County dispatch officials say so far, they have received fewer than two dozen reports of non-injury accidents. They are prepared for if conditions worsen and have a fully staffed call center. Sedgwick County 911 Deputy Director Kim Pennington says they are monitoring the situation as more traffic hits area roads.

"As you get more traffic on the roads as the temperatures continue to drop as they have through the day there's going to be slick spots on bridges and overpasses," said Pennington.

Emergency response crews want to remind drivers to give themselves three times the stopping distance when following behind vehicles. They say it's important to take your time and stay away of the road conditions.
