Driver killed when car hits light pole in NE Kansas

TONGANOXIE, Kan. -- A California man is dead after a crash Wednesday in northeast Kansas.

It happened around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday on U-24 near Main Street in Tonganoxie. That's in Leavenworth County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a westbound Nissan Altima left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a light pole.

The driver, 32-year-old Uriel Linares-Rodriguez of Oxnard, California, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was hurt.
