Driver killed in SE Kansas police chase

ERIE, Kan-- A police chase in southeast Kansas ended with a driver dead after landing his truck in a river. The incident happened Tuesday night in Neosho County, one mile south of Erie.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said a pickup truck failed to yield to an Erie police car on Pryor Road. The truck left the roadway and broke through a guardrail. The truck went airborne, landing on its top in the Neosho River.

Timothy Charboneau, 23, of Erie, died in the crash.

Investigators have not said what led to the chase.
