Driver in the stabbing of Shrine Bowl athlete makes court appearance

Topeka, Kan. (WIBW)-- The driver in the July stabbing of a Shawnee Mission High School football player appeared in court today.

30 year-old George Isaac Martinez pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery in the July 27th assault of Brett Sterbach.

A charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon was dismissed. The incident happened when Sterbach and his parents stopped at the Hudson Crossing Convenience Store after he'd played in the Shrine Bowl.

Also, charged in the case are Daniel Wakubushcook and Martin Rodriguez..

Rodriguez has a pretrial hearing Friday. The next hearing for Wakubushcook is January 3rd.

Martinez will be sentenced february 21st
