Authorities in Saline County continue to search for a woman they say led officers on a chase through three counties early yesterday morning.

Overnight Wednesday, Newton police officers and Harvey County sheriff's deputies began pursuing a car that refused to stop. The chase on I-135 went into McPherson County, then into Salina County before spike strips stopped the car. Two passengers were located, but officers did not find the driver.

Officers believe the woman is 23-year-old Jennifer Renee Wagner, but they're still trying to confirm her identity with Colorado authorities where she has active warrants.

She is possibly in the Salina area, and officers are urging area residents to keep their vehicles locked. They say she also has a history of taking outgoing mail from neighborhood mailboxes.

Last night, deputies were notified that a woman matching her description had been at the 24/7 convenience store on North 9th St. near I-70 around 7:30 that morning. From there, she got a ride to Emmanuel Christian Church at 1325 E. Cloud around 9 a.m. Church staff then gave her an unknown color jacket, and she was last seen walking west on Cloud Street towards Ohio around 10 a.m. yesterday.

Staff told deputies she was wearing the same shirt from the photo above. Anyone with information on this woman's whereabouts is asked to call police.

A search is underway for the driver who led officers on a chase through three Kansas counties early this morning.

Early Wednesday morning, Newton police officers and Harvey County sheriff's deputies began pursuing a car that refused to stop. The chase on I-135 went into McPherson County, then into Salina County.

At that point, Saline County sheriff's deputies along with Salina police officers laid spike strips on I-135 near the I-70 junction. The suspect's car hit the spikes and was disabled just north of I-70 near Pleasant Hill Road.

Three people then bailed from the car. Officers found two passengers: A 26-year-old man was arrested for an out-of-state warrant, and the other passenger was questioned and later released.

Those passengers identified the driver as the woman pictured above. The Saline County Sheriff's Office says they have not yet confirmed her identity, but ask residents to call authorities if they have seen her.
