WICHITA, Kan. -- Doctors offices around Wichita are swamped with sick patients. People are suffering from sore throats, upper respiratory infections, the stomach virus, and even influenza.
Doctor Grover Hershberger at Immediate Care in west Wichita can barely keep up.
"It's been busier than usual," said Hershberger. "Normally I see about 50 patients, but it's been in the 80's the last few days."
He says a lot of the congestion problems are caused by people turning on their furnaces. The dry, dirty air blows into our homes. He recommends getting them checked and cleaned this time of year.
As as always, Hershberger says wash your hands, get a flu shot, and stay home if you are sick.
