Classes were canceled for most schools and colleges across the state, Including Newman and Friends University, but not Wichita State.
A University spokesman says the decision to open was made after most sidewalks and parking lots were cleared. It was a decision that got mixed reviews from students.
"I needed to come to this class, so I'm okay with it." said senior Rachelle McDaniel.
WSU Russian History Associate Professor Helen Hundley said only about half of her students were able to make it in. Spokesman Joe Kleinsasser says instructors will usually work with their students if the students tell them why they couldn't make it to class.
