DERBY, Kan.-- A Derby home sustains more than $250,000 in damage after a house fire late Saturday night.
Shortly before 10 p.m. emergency crews responded to the report of a house fire at the 3000 block of East Sunflower Dr.
When units arrived there was heavy fire visible in the rear of the house. About 12 - 15 Crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire that had spread to all floors of the home.
Crews cut holes in the roof to relieve smoke and heat from inside and to have a better view as to any fires left burning.
The two occupants of the home were able to get out safely before units arrived.
Overall the Derby home sustained over $250,000 in damages to the house and approximately $100,000 in damages to the contents of the home.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
