A power outage in the Derby area has left just over 1,200 Westar customers in the dark Tuesday.
The outage was reported around 4:15 p.m. and primarily affected residents on the Wichita suburb's northeast side. Traffic lights were also malfunctioning in the area.
A Westar spokesperson said the outage was caused by failed underground equipment in a residential area.
Power was restored to most customers around 6 p.m., but as of 10:15 p.m., about 220 customers were still without power.
