Derby Middle School Teacher Bob Loop says he accidentally left about $800 dollars worth of money he raised in his car. That money to help his students fund a class trip to Washington DC. His car was unfortunately broken into but he was able to capture the suspected culprit walking away from his home.

Bob Loop has been a teacher at Derby Middle school for about ten years. His passion is to teach his students about history and the people who shaped our country. he believes one of the best ways is to take his students to Washington DC. He says it's amazing to see how his students light up and can recognizes places, people and events. He said, "from like 6 a-m to about 10 pm we are touring memorials."

Unfortunately, the trip comes with a hefty price tag. He said, "the trip is pretty expensive and not everybody can afford to go so what I do is try to raise as much money as I can to help all the kids that are signed up."

Bob had raised $400 dollars to buy a Playstation 4, with plans to sell raffle tickets for it. He said, "I try to raise money at least for one full student which would be about 1600 dollars. But I don't just pay for one student that gets spread out for how every many kids go."

In addition he raised an extra $400 dollars for the kids to go toward the trip. However, just days ago someone broke into his car at home and stole the cash. He managed to get video from his home surveillance camera. In the video you see the suspected thief wearing a white t-shirt walking away from the home. "As I looked at the surveillance video I just think you know, who ever this guy is, he's made some bad choices. I kind of feel sorry for him."

Since the money was stolen Bob has started a Go Fund Me page to raise the lost funds. More than $1,000 dollars have been donated since last check Wednesday night. "I'm not a cryer but I kind of teared up when I saw how people are responding to this."

He says he's not angry at the person who stole the money. He was more concerned how this would affect the children's chances of going on this trip.
