It's the end of an era for a Wichita landmark.
Demolition began this morning on the former Central YMCA at 402 N. Market in downtown Wichita.
The former YMCA was part of Wichita for half a century, opening in 1959. It closed two months ago when the new Robert D. Love Downtown YMCA opened nearby.
The building is being torn down to make way for additional parking for the new facility. Demolition is expected to take about 60 days.
Jared Cerullo was on hand for the beginning of the demolition. Look for more on later KAKE newscasts.
