The Kansas Department of Health and Environment suspended the operating license of a Russell day care home on Thursday after a 4-month-old was injured requiring treatment at a Wichita hospital.

The department suspended the license of Heather Ragene Ross to immediately protect children under her care from a threat to their health or safety.

The infant was taken to a Wichita hospital last month with injuries consistent with abuse and shaken baby syndrome. The investigation showed the injuries occurred at the Russell day care home.
