The Wichita Fire Department is investigating an early morning house fire in northeast Wichita.

Crews were called to a home in the 2900 block of East Mossman -- near 9th Street North and Chautauqua -- just before 4 a.m. today. Battalion Chief Sid Newby said firefighters arrived to find smoke flames coming from the house.

Newby said nobody was in the home and investigators are trying to figure out whether anybody lived there at all.

A cause and damage estimate have not yet been determined.
