Fire damages home in far west Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. — Firefighters battled a two-alarm house fire in far west Wichita.

The fire broke out around 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the 13000 block of West Burton, near Maple and 135th Street West.

Crews arrived on scene and found fire in the attic, then called for a second-alarm response. Additional units responded.

Wichita Fire Department Battalion Chief Ernie Schuler said the fire started on the outside and a neighbor warned the people inside to get out.

The fire is estimated to have caused $100,000 in damage. The cause is unknown.

No one was injured.
