An accident involving two Cox Communication vehicles snarled traffic on Interstate 135 Friday afternoon. The accident happened just after 2 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-135 just north of Pawnee Avenue.
Officials say two decommissioned Cox cherry pickers were involved. The vehicles had been purchased by a company in Texas and one was towing the second southbound on I-135 to their destination when the driver had to swerve to avoid a tractor trailer.
Investigators say the driver lost control and flipped his vehicle. The second cherry picker was thrown down into a ditch where it came to stop in a group of trees.
The driver was hospitalized with minor injuries. Traffic was on southbound I-135 was reduced to one lane while crews worked to clear the scene. The accident is under investigation.
