Sedgwick County officials are continuing efforts to clean up tornado-ravaged Oaklawn a month later.

Sedgwick County public works labeled each of the damaged homes as safe or unsafe and liveable or not liveable. Now the owners have 30 days to demolish those that are unsafe. Construction crews are still waiting on insurance companies before they can move forward.

"At that time, we'll be able to pick up the pace," said Sampson Construction owner Chris Sampson. He said his company is waiting on insurance companies to decide on what to do with the damaged homes.

If the owners don't demolish the destroyed homes within the 30 days, the county will bill the owner. Sedgwick County staff and commissioners are meeting Tuesday morning to discuss the details.
