KINGMAN, Kan. -- An investigation into an alleged Open Meetings Act violation in one Kansas community has ended.
In January, Kingman County Attorney Matthew Ricke received a complaint concerning members of the Kingman City Commission. He then asked the Kingman County Sheriff's Office to investigate.
“The Kingman County Sheriff’s Office conducted a thorough investigation regarding the allegation, including numerous interviews, follow-up interviews and collection of evidence,” Ricke said. “After reviewing the reports, it became apparent that the allegation made was without merit.”
Ricke went on to say the allegation was "based on speculation" and the alleged meeting was not even attended by city council members. He declined to reveal who made the original complaint.
