The City of Wichita is beginning cleanup from a damaging storm that moved through the area last night. During a briefing Friday morning, public works officials discussed response and cleanup.
The city will have several crews out clearing tree limbs and other debris that fell into streets and other public property, however they will not be picking up debris from private property.
Private property owners are responsible for their own debris removal. Residents can work out removal with their trash haulers, or can take debris to one of the disposal sites listed below (for a fee).
A list of solid waste haulers is listed at wichita.gov. City crews will not be picking up debris placed on curbs.
Crews will start with arterial streets before moving to residential streets, and cleanup could take several weeks. The most damage occurred in central and western portions of the city.
