WICHITA, Kan. — A child was taken to a hospital after a near-drowning at a northwest Wichita neighborhood pool.
Emergency crews were called to a community pool in Tyler's Landing just after 2 p.m. Friday. That's a neighborhood near 37th and Tyler.
According to Wichita Police, a four-year-old boy who was swimming in the pool went into the deep end by accident. Officers say his mother was there, but had looked away for a second.
The boy's older brother tried to pull him out, but was unable to. Another parent then jumped in and pulled him from the water. He was taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover.
Police said about 12 people were in the pool at the time, and everyone helped.
