WICHITA, Kan. — A child is recovering after getting his head stuck between an escalator and a wall at a Wichita mall.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. Monday inside the Dillard's store at Towne East Square Mall. According to police, a 4-year-old boy was playing at the bottom of an escalator when he somehow got his head stuck between the escalator's moving hand rail and the wall next to it.

The child's mother was nearby when it happened and called for help, and employees were soon able to shut the escalator down.

The boy was taken to a local hospital with several cuts to the right side of his face including his eyelid, but is expected to recover.
