A Wichita boy remains in critical condition after he was hit by a car Saturday in Butler County, sheriff's officials said Sunday.

The Butler County sheriff's office said several children were crossing the street near SW 170 and Ohio Street, south of Augusta, when a 6-year-old Wichita boy ran out in front of a westbound car and was hit.

A sheriff's official said Sunday that the boy remains in critical condition at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Further details were not immediately released.

A Wichita boy was critically injured Saturday when he was struck by a car in Butler County.

It happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of SW 170 and Ohio Street, about 8 miles south of Augusta. The Butler County Sheriff's Office says several children were crossing the road as a westbound car approached the intersection.

A 6-year-old Wichita boy ran out in front of the car and was hit. The sheriff's office says he suffered hip, leg and back injuries.

He was transported by Butler County EMS in critical condition to Wesley Medical Center. His current condition has not been released.
