A man with a violent criminal history is behind bars following a chase with Wichita Police.
It began in the 1400 Block of North Hydraulic shortly before 11 p.m. Sgt. Bruce Watts said an officer began chasing a car after trying to pull it over for a defective tag light. A supervisor called off the chase.
The two suspects were later found trying to park the vehicle behind the Wichita Children's home. One of the suspects, 41 year-old Soulakhone Nola was found a short time later.
He was arrested on several charges including criminal possession of a firearm, evading and eluding police, and drug possession.
Nola was also an absconder, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections. in September of 1998, Nola was convicted of attempted 1st degree murder. He was on supervised parole beginning in July of 2012, but was listed as an absconder on Thursday.
