It's been over a year in the making, but a major downtown church has reopened.
Within the marble of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, over 100 years of history have gone by. After a dedication mass Sunday, the Catholic Diocese of Wichita reopened the cathedral.
The church and adjacent buildings, located at Central and Broadway have been closed for nearly 18 months while renovations were completed. Two masses were held Sunday: one in English by invitation and one in Spanish.
