One man was seriously injured after a motorcycle collided with a car in northeast Wichita overnight.

The accident happened around 12:20 a.m. near 21st and North Pinecrest, just east of Oliver. Details on what led to the collision still are unclear.

The car was damaged, but that driver was not hurt. A woman commented on the KAKE Facebook page she witnessed the crash, and saw the motorcycle rider get thrown "a good 200 feet."

The motorcycle rider was taken to a hospital in serious condition, and early reports indicated he has a skull fracture. But witness Kristen Salisbury reported he wanted to "get up and go." Salisbury says she held him down until emergency crews arrived.

Salisbury called the wreck the scariest thing she's ever seen. She went through a crash with a motorcycle in the past.

"My main issue is to pressure anybody who is on a motorcycle or a moped: please wear a helmet," Salisbury said during a live interview on Good Morning Kansas. "Your helmet is your seat belt." She says in this case, the motorcycle rider was not wearing a helmet. Police have yet to confirm that.
