Salina Police are searching for two suspects after a cab driver was stabbed last night.

It began just after 7:30 Thursday night when a cab from Sunflower Taxi was called to pick up two men near 13th and Pacific. The driver took them to a nearby location then brought them right back, and that's when police say the attack occurred.

The suspect who was sitting directly behind the driver pulled a knife and stabbed him several times in the head and face area. The driver was able to exit the car and get away before he eventually collapsed.

The 60-year-old man was later taken to a Salina hospital before being transferred to Wichita. Police say he has a serious wound near one of his eyes, but that his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Police are looking for two men, one white and one black. They were both described as being in their 20s and were wearing dark-colored hoodies. At least one witness saw the two running northbound from the cab after the attack occurred.

A K-9 was deployed and police say some evidence has been recovered.

Police say the driver's cell phone is missing and at this point believe robbery may have been the motive. When captured, the suspects could face multiple charges including attempted murder, aggravated battery and robbery.
