UPDATE: Tuesday, October 15, 2013 - 1 p.m.
Crime scene investigators have returned to a home where a body was found in Augusta Monday afternoon.
Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet tells KAKE News that the body is badly decomposed. He hopes to find clues as to who the person is and what lead to his or her death.
"I stood in the windows watching them all the time yesterday and saw that big huge truck from the sheriff's and I knew something happened," said neighbor Debra Urban.
Urban has lived across from the home for 22 years. She was not surprised that something like this happened.
"Within the last couple of weeks, I had my windows down because it was nice out and I smelt something really stinking," she said. "I thought it was a dead dog or something, but now I know it wasn't."

The Butler County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspicious death after a body was discovered in the back yard of a home southwest of Augusta.
Sheriff Kelly Herzet tells KAKE News, a neighbor called 911 on Monday asking for a welfare check at 9606 SW 110th Street. When deputies arrived, they received no answer at the front door.
The discovered a decomposing body when they went to knock on the back door of the home. The sheriff says the homeowner, 54-year-old Susan L. May, was not at home at the time, but was located and taken to the Augusta Department of Public Safety to be interviewed.
She was arrested at 7 p.m. last night for voluntary manslaughter, criminal desecration and 2 counts of obstructing the legal process.
Sheriff Herzet told KAKE News at the scene that they had a difficult time because the body was already decomposing and because of weather.
The sheriff says police have been called to the home many times in the past for domestic violence and in 2000, May was arrested for shooting a boyfriend at the home.
The identity of the victim has not been released. Check back for updates throughout the day Tuesday.
