Thieves make off with laptops and jewelry from a southeast Wichita pawn shop. But it's the way they broke in that's going to cost the business owner.
We're told around 1:20 Tuesday morning, a group of thieves backed their car into the store.
A-OK pawn shop opened on time, at nine AM so customers like Jeremy Dellinger could get a jump start on their shopping.
"Just looking to get some stuff for my wife for the Christmas holiday,” Dellinger said.
But even though they were open for business, the store couldn't open it's front doors because of a group of thieves.
"I just think it's kind of pathetic, you know there's a lot of hard working Americans out there just trying to make it through the holidays and do it the right way and I just think that it's awfully selfish that there are people taking that route,” Dellinger said.
The pawn shop's manager tells us he got the call early Tuesday morning.
"The car had backed into it and then drove away so it left glass when they backed into it just shattered glass throughout the whole store and out in the parking lot. It was quite a mess,” A-OK pawn shop manager Dean Clark said.
Police say after the car crashed into the store. Four people got out, smashed a few display cases, grabbed jewelry and a few lap tops, and then took off.
"There was a lot more stuff that they could've gotten and they didn't so we're thankful of that,” Clark said.
Clark says the real loss is the damage. They'll have to repair several jewelry cases and completely replace the front door.
"Glass company met us out here and boarded it all up for us and we secured the building and started cleaning up glass at 2:30 in the morning,” Clark said.
Clark says they still have a lot of work to do to clean up the mess the thieves left behind but says he's just happy no one was there this morning when the car crashed in.
The suspects were driving a four-door silver car. If you have any information, call Crimestoppers at 316-267-2111.

Police are searching for four men who broke into a southeast Wichita pawn shop by ramming the front doors down with a car. It happened just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at the A-OK Pawn in the 1500 block of South Oliver.
Officials say the men backed a silver car up to the front doors and used it to break through the glass. The men then entered the store and broke several display cases, taking jewelry and laptop computers worth thousands of dollars.
The break in set of an alarm but the men were already gone by the time police arrived on the scene. Officials are working to release surveillance video of the crime in hopes that someone will recognize the burglars.
