Burden Police Chief Travis Lowe has reached a plea agreement with the Cowley County attorney's office, a spokeswoman confirmed Tuesday. The specifics of the plea will not be made public until the official filing of the documents.

Lowe, 39, was charged with one count of domestic battery or in the alternative simple battery. The charges stem from an argument and altercation Lowe had at his home with his wife.

Lowe was freed on a $750 bond after being arrested and booked into the Cowley County Jail after the late November incident. He had faced a maximum sentence under domestic battery class A misdemeanor charges of one year in jail and up to a $2500 fine. If convicted of a class B misdemeanor, the maximum penalty would have been up to 6 months in jail and up to $1,000 fine.

Judge Nick St. Peter gave Lowe and Cowley County Attorney Christopher Smith until 8:30 a.m. April 20 to file the plea agreement.
