Burden Police Chief Daniel Travis Lowe made his first appearance in court today on domestic battery charges, Cowley County District Attorney Christopher Smith said.
Lowe, 39, was charged with one count of domestic battery or in the alternative a simple battery. The charges stem from an argument and altercation Lowe had at his home with his wife.
Lowe has been free on a $750 bond after being arrested and booked into the Cowley County Jail after the incident in late November.
Lowe was represented by his attorney Chris Rogers of Winfield. His next appearance will be January 19 at 8:30 a.m.
The maximum sentence possible under domestic battery class A misdemeanor charges is one year in jail and up to a $2500 fine. If convicted of a class B misdemeanor, the maximum penalty would be up to 6 months in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.
