Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback has ordered that flags be flown at half-staff Friday as a mark of respect for the victims of the tragedy in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.
A gunman opened fire at a Sikh temple near Milwaukee Sunday. Seven people died in the attack, including the gunman.
The suspect has been identified as Wade Michael Page, a former Army sergeant.
“Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer and I are shocked and saddened by the senseless act of violence perpetrated against worshippers at the Sikh temple in Wisconsin,” Brownback said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by this tragedy. The entire nation mourns the loss of the innocent victims.”
The Governor urged all Kansas residents, businesses, schools, local governments and other organizations to join the state in displaying their flags at half-staff until sundown on August, 10.
