PAOLA, Kan. -- Rescuers recovered body of a man who drowned in a northeast Kansas lake.
Authorities say the man went into Hillsdale Lake from a boat Saturday, and didn't resurface. His body was recovered Sunday evening from the lake in Miami and Johnson counties.
Friends tell KMBC in Kansas City the man's name is Mark Selbee.
Someone say two young children, alone on a boat and contacted authorities. That lead to search involving 10 different agencies and around 35 rescuers and divers. The murky waters made the search difficult.
David Oblas, who knew Selbee, tells KMBC that Selbee was a multi-time kickboxing champion. "He was one of those guys who seemed to make friends with everyone," Oblas said. Oblas also says Selbee recently moved to Kansas after training many fighters in the Atlanta area.
