A two-day search for a southeast Kansas man who disappeared in the Neosho River while fishing has ended with the recovery of his body.

KOAM-TV reports a Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter crew spotted the body of 24-year-old Oswego resident Blake Chavez in the river Wednesday afternoon.

Labette County Sheriff Robert Sims says Chavez was one of two men who fell into the river below a dam on Monday evening. A 27-year-old man was able to swim to safety.

The dam is located below Riverside Park in Oswego. The sheriff says it's a popular spot for swimming and fishing, but the current is deceptively swift.
