New information is expected today in the case of a body found Sunday in the Little Arkansas River.

The body was discovered by a passby Sunday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. near the Villa Del Mar Apartments near Central and Nims.

Michael Knapick tells us he had just finished a run and was walking along the river when he saw something floating in the water.

"Just saw the top of the head,” Michael Knapick said.

“I can't get it in a position to tell if it's human or not, then I saw that top of the ear and I was pretty sure it is,” Knapick said.

The body may belong to a 38-year-old man who jumped into the Little Arkansas late Thursday night to escape Wichita Police. The man had been pulled over on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The man's body did not turn up after a search of the river which continued through Friday morning.

Police say they should have a positive identification on the body found by this morning's media briefing.
