Police Make Arrests in Case of Body Found in NE Wichita

Police arrested two men late Friday on suspicion of first-degree murder, according to jail records.

The case number associated with the arrests matches the number for the case involving Shawn M. Lindsey, 34, of Wichita, whose body was found near K96 and Hillside Wednesday.

Both men are being held at the Sedgwick County Jail. They each are being held on $750,000 bond.

Jail records show the men, ages 37 and 31, were arrested in west Wichita Friday night at 118 S. Vine Street. They were booked into the Sedgwick County Jail at about midnight.

Police have never confirmed Lindsey's death as a homicide. They have only referred to it as a "suspicious death."

Police declined to comment on the arrests Saturday.

Police have identified the body of a man found in Northeast Wichita Wednesday morning.

The body of 34-year-old Shawn M. Lindsey was found by two utility workers Wednesday morning in some brush near K-96 and Hillside.

Police are still calling his death suspicious, but have not ruled it a homicide. Lindsey was a Wichita resident.

During a briefing Friday, police said the autopsy was complete but were not ready to release other information, saying it was important to the integrity of the investigation.

Officers are following up leads, and looking for others to question in the case.

Lindsey's girlfriend last saw him alive last Friday at a west Wichita business and reported him missing on Sunday.

Police continue to investigate the suspicious death of a man whose body was found in northeast Wichita Wednesday morning.

Two utility workers found the body in some brush near K-96 and Hillside around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Police have identified the body, saying it is that of a 34-year-old white man from Wichita. They say his girlfriend last saw him on Friday, and reported him missing on Sunday.

The circumstances around the man's disappearance and death are still considered suspicious, but officers are still stopping short of calling it a homicide.

So far they are not releasing his name.

Police are on scene of a suspicous death after a a body was found in northeast Wichita.

The body was discovered around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. Two utility workers near K-96 and Hillside saw something in the brush near the road. When they went in for a closer look, they saw it was a body and called police.

Officers are on scene, and they are calling the death suspicious. No other details have been released, except that the body is a man.
