WICHITA, Kan. — There's a new bishop for the Wichita Catholic Diocese.
In February, Pope Francis named Msgr. Carl A. Kemme, vicar general and moderator of the curia for the Catholic Diocese of Springfield, Illinois to be the 11th bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wichita.
Kemme was ordained Thursday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, located at 307 E. Central.
Bishop-elect Kemme, 53, succeeds now-Archbishop Michael O. Jackels, who in April 2013 was named head of the Archdiocese of Dubuque, Iowa.
