A 62-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a fatal hit-and-run Friday morning near Salina.

Lewis Grider of Salina was arrested Friday night and charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Gail Lynne Kline, said the Saline County Sheriff’s Office.

Kline, 49, of Delphos was hit while riding her bike westbound in the 3500 block of West Crawford, west of Salina. She was participating in a sanctioned bicycle event called the Kandango Ride.

Additional charges may be filed in the case.

The sheriff’s office thanks the public for calling with information that assisted them with locating the suspect and the vehicle.

Officers are now searching for a van in connection to this morning's hit and run accident that left a bicyclist dead.

Investigators now believe 49-year-old Gail Lynne Kline of Delphos was hit by a 2000 to 2002 Chevy or GMC van, of the 1500, 2500 or 3500 series (see example photo above). The van in question would have front passenger-side damage.

Kline was struck while riding her bike westbound in the 3500 block of West Crawford, west of Salina. She was participating in a sanctioned bicycle event called the Kandango Ride.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Saline County Sheriff's Office at (785) 826-6500 or Crime Stoppers at (785) 825-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted by texting SATIPS to CRIMES (274637).

Deputies are searching for a driver who hit and killed a woman on a bicycle earlier this morning in Saline County.

The call came in around 8:45 Friday morning. A passerby saw a bike in a ditch in the 3800 block of West Crawford, west of Salina. Emergency crews found a woman nearby and rushed her to an area hospital, but she died a short time later.

Investigators found vehicle parts nearby, including a passenger side marker lamp. Deputies took the debris to a local mechanic, who checked a part number and believe it have might have come from a 2001-era GMC, Chevrolet Tahoe or Silverado.

Officers say the vehicle was heading westbound on Crawford, and hit the bicyclist from behind. There would be damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle.

Anyone who may have information on the driver or vehicle that was involved is asked to call the Saline County Sheriff's Office at (785) 826-6500.

Her identity has not been released yet pending notification of next of kin.
