Belle Plaine Man Injured In Sumner County Crash

A Belle Plaine man is in critical condition in a Wichita hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Sumner County Thursday night.

The crash occurred just before 9 p.m. near the junction of U.S. Highway 81 and Kansas Highway 55, about three miles west of Belle Plaine.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a westbound SUV driven by 45-year-old Donald Stewart rear-ended a westbound truck driven by 39-year-old Keith Gillespie of Conway Springs.

Stewart was taken to Wesley Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition Friday morning. Gillespie was not hurt.
