WICHITA, Kan. — Police continue to search for the suspect in a bank robbery that later turned into a standoff in southeast Wichita.

The robbery happened just after 10 a.m. Thursday at Fidelity Bank, located at 3525 E. Harry near Clifton.

Police say a man walked in, pointed a gun at a teller and demanded money. When he had the cash, he ran southbound from the bank.

Police tracked the suspect using a GPS device that was with the money. Officers tracked the device to a nearby neighborhood in the 1700 block of South Roosevelt. The SWAT team arrived around and a perimeter was set up around a home in the area.

Officers later entered the home and found no one inside. They moved to a nearby street, but were still unable to locate a suspect.

He's described as a black male, 6'3" to 6'5" and 150 pounds, with a thin build and dark complexion. He was wearing a black cap, a black t-shirt with Ben Franklin on it, jeans and white shoes.
