WICHITA -- Police are investigating a stabbing that happened at an apartment complex near downtown Wichita.
Police say a 51-year-old met a homeless man and took him home around 8 p.m. Thursday. When they got back to the man's apartment in the 800 block of South Market, officers say the homeless man reportedly stabbed the other man and tried to choke him.
Neighbors called 911, and when officers arrived they found the victim with about 10 stab wounds to the chest. He was taken to a local hospital with serious, but not life threatening injuries.
Police are still searching for a suspect. He's described as a black male in his 40s who's about 5-feet, 7-inches tall. He had dark-rimmed glasses and a red backpack.
