The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a five-month-old child at a Topeka daycare home.
Deputies were called just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday about an unresponsive infant at an unlicensed daycare home in the 7000 block of Southwest Wheatfield Lane.
Deputies who responded began CPR until fire department personnel arrived and took over. The infant was taken to a local, where the child was pronounced dead.
The Shawnee County Health Agency Child Care Licensing Program also is investigating the incident.
Authorities are not releasing the exact address of the daycare home or the child's name until notifications are complete.
