WICHITA, Kan. Black and yellow balloons, streamers and signs decorated Midcontinent Airport this morning, adding to the excitement already in the atmosphere.
About 120 Shocker fans were there to board a charter flight to St. Louis. The youngest in the crowd, was little Remy Elzein.
"2 1/2 months, she's ready to cheer on the shockers," said mom Leigh Elzein. "It's her first flight, and first Shocker game."
On the opposite side of the spectrum, John McCune graduated from WSU in 1959 and has been a long time season ticket holder.
"I think we're ready," McCune said. "As Marshall says, it's our time."
The flight and hotel package organized by the WSU Alumni Association costs about $1,200, but it's worth it for these fans who say they want to prove a point to the naysayers.
"They're just jealous," said fans Susan Hussey and Liz McGinness. "You know what, we're not whining about our bracket, we're going to be there, we're going to win it."
The flight from Wichita to St. Louis is only about 45 minutes, so they will all be there in plenty of time for the pep rally at 4:00 this afternoon. The group has plans to return on Sunday evening.
