An Amber Alert has been canceled for a Leavenworth teen missing since yesterday.

Jenna Hord, 16, and Logan Burris, 17, have both been located safe in Hiawatha, Kansas by the Brown County Sheriff's Office.

Our sister station in Topeka reports that Brown County Sheriff John Merchant says a citizen spotted a vehicle matching the description of the car belonging to Hord and contacted authorities. A deputy then pulled over the vehicle and took Hord and Burris into custody around 8:00 p.m. Thursday.

Merchant said the pair cooperated, and no weapon was found. Hord and Burris were taken to the Brown Co. Sheriff's Office to wait for Leavenworth Co. authorities to pick them up and continue the investigation.

Margie Besette, Hord's mother, spoke with KCTV in Kansas City and said she'd been told Burris threatened Hord at a convenience store, telling her he'd shoot her in the head if she didn't get into the car.

Police said they were concerned because Burris was spotted with a handgun earlier in the day and was threatening people. Authorities say they've had run ins with Burris before but wouldn't elaborate, as he is a minor.

Besette said her daughter, who is from Atchison, had dated Burris on and off for about two years, but their relationship had recently become violent. Besette said on April 1, Burris had beat up her daughter so badly that she had to be hospitalized.

Officers were told by several of Hord's friends, who said they had talked to or text Hord, that she was OK. Police hadn't been able to verify that information and haven't had contact with her since the incident at the convenience store. Besette said she'd been told by her daughter's friends that Burris most likely broke Hord's cellphone.

Police said one of the reasons they issued the Amber Alert is because they believed Burris might try to head to Missouri or Illinois.
