Ambassador Hotel Wichita announced that it will open on December 26th with all 117 rooms and suites, conference facilities and the Siena Tuscan Steakhouse restaurant.
“We are excited to open our doors and introduce a new brand of luxury to Wichita and the region. It has been a great experience to watch a building that was closed for over 12 years, transform into an extraordinary facility and become a cornerstone for redevelopment in Wichita,” said General Manager Michael Frimel. “This has been a labor of love for us since October of last year and we are ready to begin hosting overnight guests, meetings, weddings and social events.”
The Ambassador caps a year of growing travel and tourism for Wichita, including the addition of new hotels across the city, the opening and expansion of Kansas Star Casino development, many new entertainment and sports events and record attendance at many existing events.
“It is always exciting when a new hotel opens in downtown Wichita,” said Susie Santo, President and CEO of Go Wichita. “The Ambassador provides Wichita with a boutique luxury property that adds to the variety of our hotel portfolio. It will play an important role in our ability to attract meetings and conventions to Wichita.”
The hotel said there are still rooms available for the midnight New Year’s Eve party and that bookings for 2013 have been brisk and spring/summer wedding bookings are filling up.
“Bringing a whole new level of hospitality to the Wichita hotel market has opened a lot of doors for us.” said Sales and Marketing Director Gina McKee. “The concept of a boutique luxury hotel is familiar to many local travelers, and early demand seems to indicate that it is a concept whose time has come here in Wichita.”
