Melissa Igo shut her front door when she thought there was a sales person going door to door on her street. Fortunately for her neighbor, she kept an eye on the woman.
"We noticed a lady knocking on the door and walking around the house trying to get in the door, " said Igo. "She was trying to access the garage door. After about 10 minutes it was time to call 911."
Police arrested 39 year-old Kimberly Raney of Derby. Now they are connecting her to at least 7 other home break-ins beginning in January.
"We're lucky, " said the burglary victim. "We're lucky we have good neighbors."
This woman who doesn't want to be identified believes the suspect lives in nearby apartments and kept an eye on her and her neighbors.
She says she is extremely grateful to Igo for noticing something suspicious.
"If it wasn't for her, the little woman could have taken what we have and destroyed our house," said the woman.
Police say they have presented the case to the district attorney's office and are waiting for charges to be filed against Raney.
