Airborne deer hits car, injuring Kansas woman

BARTON COUNTY, Kan. -- A woman was injured Wednesday when her car was hit by an airborne deer.

The accident happened shortly before 8 a.m. yesterday on highway K-4, about 6 miles west of Claflin in Barton County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a Ford F-150 was westbound on the highway when a deer came out of the south ditch. The pickup hit the deer, sending it into the air and across traffic.

The airborne deer then hit an eastbound PT cruiser, injuring the 21-year-old woman who was driving. The Ellsworth woman was taken to a Great Bend hospital for treatment.
