Aviation recruiters are on their way to Wichita in search of new employees. At two job fairs this week, more than a dozen aerospace companies are hoping to take advantage of the great concentration of talent in the Air Capital.
The first fair is for B/E Aerospace and is scheduled for this Monday at the Hyatt Regency Hotel from 12 to 7 p.m. Company officials say they're currently in a growth mode and need to recruit new employees. B/E Aerospace is hiring for engineering and supply chain positions nationwide, including their consumables management facility in northeast Wichita.
On Wednesday, Expo Experts is returning to Wichita to host a job fair at the Airport Hilton from 10 a.m. To 3 p.m. Fourteen employers, including Garmin, Nordam, Lockheed Martin, Triumph, and L-3, will be there looking for new workers. Expo Experts President Susan Turner say they're coming to Wichita primarily to find experienced engineering and skilled trade professionals.
The recruiters say it's well known that Wichita aircraft companies have laid off thousands of employees and Boeing will close its Wichita facility in 2013. Turner says boeing's engineers will be in demand.
"We hope very much to see a lot of those Boeing engineers. I think we have some great opportunities for them in particular. A lot of the companies are coming because they want the Boeing skills." said Turner.
